The
condition that he has is called post-traumatic encephalopathy, which seriously
affects his health causing it to deteriorate. Some doctors give him a
short time to live. This ailment is a direct result of all the punches
he received as a boxer. Meanwhile, the champion staggers down the mysterious
hall of life. He is forgotten by his supposed friends who, during the
most difficult times of his life, are nowhere to be seen. It is with hope
that I appeal to your generosity in raising funds for the benefit of Wilfred
Benítez. Your contribution would make possible his costly treatment
and would give him the opportunity to live a more dignified life, free
from pain and suffering. He was once considered a glory in Puerto Rico’s
boxing sport but unforeseen circumstances dealt him a powerful blow, and
his health and well being suffered for it. Wilfred Benítez is down
on the mat now, but with your generous help he will get up before he reaches
